I have a square face, so I may be mixed with boxer. Thunder's Angels saved me just minutes before I was supposed to be killed in the gas chamber and I'm now looking for my forever home. I weigh 62 pounds and am approximately 1 - 2 years old. Like most young shepherds, I'm a high energy dog so I need to go to a home with someone who will run with me, and/or take me on several long walks each day. I need stimulation because I am VERY smart. I'm also very athletic. I would love to live in a home with a fenced yard (no electric fences though). When introducted properly, I get along with other large dogs but I will probably do best in a home as the only dog because I stay much more focused and listen well without the distraction of playmates. I do okay with kids but shouldn't be in a home with very young children since I'm so large and playful. Older children (12 yrs+) would be fine. I definitely can't be with cats since I love to chase them (I can never understand why they don't want to play with me and they always run away!) I'm such a nice girl and I LOVE people - just look at my huge smile and goofy ears! I do not have any toy or food aggressions, I am housetrained and I know how to sit on command. I also know 'wait' 'down' 'shake hands' and 'speak' (bark) when you ask me to and sometimes I speak just for fun like when I'm begging for a treat or want you to play ball. I love food and 'cookies' is my favorite word -- if you say 'cookies' and I'm a mile away, I will be at your feet to sit and wait for a treat within a few seconds! I like to jump when greeting people and I love giving kisses - I will lick your face for hours :) I do counter-surf and try to steal food but if you correct me I always jump down and give you puppy-dog-eyes to say that I'm sorry. I am learning how to play fetch but right now I'm not so interested in the retreiving part - I'd rather tease you while I play 'keep away' and you chase me - it's my favorite game! I have recently started leash-training with a gentle leader and I respond great to it with no pulling at all! My foster family will send it with me (along with some of my favorite toys) when I'm adopted. I love chewing on nylabones while I lay at your feet at night and I really love sqeaky toys too. I'm such a great dog and I've been waiting for a family for way too long now - my foster family wants to keep me but they live in a townhouse with other foster dogs always rotating in and out and they know that I really deserve a home where I can have a fenced yard and all of the attention that I crave! My adoption fee is $200 and includes all vaccines, heartworm testing, heartworm treatment, spay surgery, and up-to-date heartworm and flea/tick preventantive. Can you HELP SAVE ME?
