German Shepherd Dog - Medium - Senior - Male - Dog - Joey
Description
Joey arrived at the New York city shelter as a stray on 5/11/09. Everyone at the shelter, says he is a gentlemen. (The shelter thinks he is around 11yrs old). They said he walked very nicely on a leash, climbed stairs reasonably well (as to be expected, he has some arthritis) and is housetrained, They said he is a friendly dog who enjoys being petted, and is fine with other dogs. He came into the shelter emicated, and will need gain about 10lbs. He sports a nice coat. He earned the highest behavior rating there: no concern. Unfortunately, his stay at the shelter took a toll and he came down with a bad case of kennel cough. When he arrived into our care, he had a hard time standing and walking, and we had to wait and see whether he would even pull through. Joey is a fighter, though, and he is now well on the road to recovery. He is eating like a champ, gaining weight and regaining his mobility. Joey's spirit is amazing and we would love to see this wonderful old gentleman find a loving home. Seniors have a very special place in our hearts. Though they are nearing the end of their journey in life, everyday with them is such a gift. There is nothing more rewarding than giving an old dog in need love, security and comfort for the rest of his days and we hope that there is a home out there that can provide that for Joey.
